Africa, Here We Come

We are only 6 weeks away from our next great adventure: Nearly 6 weeks in Africa, visiting 6 countries including a private reserve to start  out. This is a reaction to our health challenges last year, at least in part. We had been talking about this trip for some time, but the big price tag kept it on the back burner til we realized we may NOT live forever. So at the end of June, we set off to visit South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe,  Kenya, and Tanzania.

Our friends, Bill and Valerie, will live in our home while we are  gone, easing the concern about a long trip. We are limited to 33 lbs of luggage each, but most of the tented camps, where we will be 95% of the time, do our laundry (sans undies) daily, so that shouldn't be an issue. (except for having to wash undies ourselves alot...)

Trip prep includes getting bug juice, sunscreen, and a full load of tan or green clothes to blend into the landscape. Blue and black attract testse flies (only a problem near the end of the trip), but blue is such a big part of our wardrobes, that  is it strange to leave it all behind. The biggest challenge  will be lack of wifi in the tented camps, and very few hotel stays, so we will not be able to update the blog anything  like daily...only 3 hotel stops on the itinerary, so it will come in big globs. Email will go unaswered for weeks at a time unless I can get an all Africa Sim card for my old phone. It will be strange to be so out of touch!

We should get amazing animal photos and see a part of the world totally foreign to us....
