6/10 -- On to Italy

We left Stockholm this morning and tried using my two smartphones for our online boarding passes -- the first try was a little sketchy, but Jim is a fast learner and it certainly saved us time not having to wait in line for the paper version. The plane to Munich was a bit late, but so was the one to Genoa, which was also oversold, so they were looking for volunteers. Both flights also wanted people to gate check their bags, but we were able to avoid that. I had a window seat on the little plane to Genoa, and noticed the Alps below and later the Italian hillside towns.

At least the plane was big enough to stand up.

The hotel is at a marina not too far from the airport and we met most of our fellow travelers (a couple still to arrive) over champagne and canapes. Not a bad way to start!
